Hey friends!  So this was something I wrote about 7 years ago when I did not yet know my biological mother and the truth behind my toddler and younger years. I will not change the wording because this is what I "knew" from a lying aunt growing up, the only family member I had contact with, and this is how I felt at the time and my feelings at that point in life were valid.  As much as I want to protect my biological mother from harsh opinions especially since I now know that they are not accurate in the way that the first paragraph depicts her, I think that staying true to ourselves in the moments that things happen is important. We cannot change our thoughts just because society chooses to see everything negatively. So please enjoy the read but read the beginning with a grain of salt. Also, besides the first part, the rest of this is about the family member who was SUPPOSED to be my mother, but was actually a very ugly-hearted person who wanted the world to look at her...

Beauty

I can agree with the saying that beauty lies in the eye of the beholder. Beauty lies in all we know. From the cascade of rain beating down on the roofs that so conveniently shelter us, to the microscopic organisms that pave routes through the deep veins of this earth. To the human race in general, we think beauty means perfection. If God wanted us to be perfect, it would be so. But instead he made us our own individual, in many ways different from anybody else. We all deserve that at least one person out there who will love us and find beauty in us where nobody...

Beginning a New Chapter Hey Everyone! We have been in Washington D.C. for a little over a month now! There are so many things to share with you all. So far, this has been an amazing journey, that I never thought I would have the privilege of being a part of. I am so blessed for this opportunity. (This will be quite long because there is so much to share with ya'll :) First, let me tell you a little about this program and how I got to be here. Anyone who knows me well knows that my twin sister, Brooke, and I had an extremely rough life growing up. Because of the things I experienced growing up, I have an intense passion in child welfare, especially child abuse and foster care. (After this internship, I will start blogging my writings from the past). Originally, I had been accepted for a social work internship in my county for this summer. A couple of weeks after that and around the first week of January I found out about this Foster Youth Internship program through Greta, ...
